2. Sequence Drill - Video
The Sequence Drill trains your body to coil back in the right sequence and then re-coil back through impact in the right sequence. This drill uses left arm out in front of you, (as if you were holding a club) & your right hand stays on your right hip. By doing this one handed you can "feel" proper sequential coiling and separation on the backswing, and the re-coil on the downswing, which is the bases of the modern golf swing.
Backswing
The ideal backswing sequential coil begins with your hand, shoulders, torso, hips then knee. This Swing Governor governs the hips from turning back with your hands and shoulders so you generate torque. The inbuilt spring, then allows for a small amount of weight shift.
Downswing
The Downswing is now the reverse sequence of the backswing. Start with your knee, hips, torso, shoulders then finally your hands. The compressed spring encourages the left knee to move back first. We want to get the bump to your left side & a slight lateral hip movement. This action posts the left leg, which momentarily DECELERATES the hips, enabling the shoulders and then your left hand to whip through impact zone from the Centrifugal acceleration that has been generated
If this is done incorrectly the Swing Governor™ will remain trapped between your legs...learn more |
